Hoot Evers ripped 2 homeruns and Art Houtteman hurled a 3 hitter as the
Detroit Tigers beat the New York Yankees by a score of 3 to 1.
Detroit won the game with a run in the top of the 8th inning. Evers smashed a
bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 3rd of the season). Detroit finished with just 5
hits in the victory.
The win was credited to Houtteman(4-0) who went the whole way allowing 1 run.
Vic Raschi(2-2) was charged with the loss. He surrendered only 2 runs and 3
hits in 8 innings.
