1950 AL Replay- May 8, Det at NY

May 8, 1950

A day after New York snapped Detroit's 10 game winning streak, the Tigers came back with a 3-1 victory over the Yankees. In a very well pitched game by both teams starters, it was the bat of Detroit outfielder Hoot Evers (in middle of picture) that decided the outcome. He hit 2 solo homeruns in the game, the 2nd one in the 8th inning that gave the Tigers a 2-1 lead. Detroit added an insurance run in the 9th and Art Houtteman completed the game, a 3 hitter, for his 4th win of the season.
