1950 World Series

October 3, 1950

The 1950 World Series will start tomorrow at Ebbets Field in Brooklyn, NY. The NL Champion Brooklyn Dodgers will send baseball's top pitcher this season, lefthander Preacher Roe (below left) to the mound to start game 1. Roe 24-3, 2.65 will take on Art Houtteman (below right) 22-11, 2.82 and the AL Champion Detroit Tigers in what should be a very interesting series.
The Dodgers finished with a 98-56 record while the Tigers finished 102-52. Detroit lost a top starting pitcher in Virgil Trucks early in the 1950 season but otherwise both teams enter game 1 with healthy rosters. Complete regular season stats of the 2 teams can be found below.
